We can learn from history how past generations thought and acted, how they responded to the demands of their time and how they solved their problems. We can learn by analogy, not by example, for our circumstances will always be different than theirs were. The main thing history can teach us is that human actions have consequences and that certain choices, once made, cannot be undone.

Course Description

AP Psychology will teach you to explore the scientific and systematic study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and animals.  The course focuses on the development of awareness and understanding of one's own behavior and the behavior of others through the study of psychology.  It is a highly academic and rigorous course that will demand a great degree of self-regulation and discipline.  The course will require extensive reading and the ability to think abstractly.  AP Psychology is designed to challenge students to gain the skills necessary for success at a competitive college.  At the successful completion of the course, student will be able to:

  • Be a more ethical, effective and considerate person because of your scientific understanding of human behavior gained through your study and application of psychology concepts in this course.
  • Successfully demonstrate knowledge and application of psychology principles to pass the Advanced Placement Psychology Exam.
  • Demonstrate enhanced critical thinking skills
